About
Nadia Piet (she/her) is an independent researcher, designer, and organizer (sense-)making across AI, technology, (digital) culture, creativity, and participatory practices - tracing the feedback loops between how we shape technology and how it shapes us in return.
She is the co-founder and creative director of AIxDESIGN, a global community and decentralized lab for critical AI since 2019. Currently, she is researcher-in-residence at the Netherlands Film Academy, faculty at ELISAVA’s MA in Design for Responsible AI, and a mentor at NEW INC - alongside client collaborations and self-initiated experiments.
Her creative work has been featured in venues such as the Design Museum Den Bosch, DEMO Festival, Moving Arts Centre Amsterdam (MACA), and NEW INC.
Before this, she published the AI meets Design toolkit, headed Creative Technology at DEPT, was researcher-in-residence at Sound & Vision, prototyped emerging-tech demos with Bit, facilitated workshops with DECODED, and taught at various universities. Freelancing across industries and continents for over a decade, she has worked with organizations like WeTransfer, Sonar, NFF, EYE, Hyper Island, Mozilla, and the UN. She holds an MA in Data-Driven Design (cum laude), a BA in International Business Innovation, and a 200-hour yoga teacher certification.
When not immersed in work, you can find Nadia balancing on a yoga mat, thrifting, tufting, cooking spicy dishes, collaging, redecorating her Animal Crossing island, or spotting nudibranches underwater.
