About - Nadia Piet

BIO

Nadia Piet (she/her) is an independent researcher, designer, and organizer focussed on AI, technology, (digital) culture, creativity, and participatory practices. She is the founder & creative lead of AIxDESIGN (a global community and decentralized lab for critical AI since 2019), serves as faculty at ELISAVA’s MA in Design for Responsible AI, while working on a range of client and collaborative projects and self-initiated experiments that probe and sense-make how we shape technology and it shapes us in return. Nadia holds an MA in Data-Driven Design (cum laude), a BA in International Business Innovation, and a 200-hour Yoga Teacher certification. Her creative work has been featured in venues such as the Design Museum Den Bosch, DEMO Festival, Moving Arts Centre Amsterdam (MACA), and NEW INC. Nadia's multidiscplinary background includes publishing the AI meets Design toolkit, working as Head of Creative Technology at DEPT, researcher-in-residence at Sound & Vision, prototyping emerging technology demos with Bit, facilitating workshops with DECODED, teaching at various universities. Freelancing for over a decade across industries & continents, she has collaborated with organizations like WeTransfer, Sonar, NFF, EYE, Hyper Island, Mozilla, and the UN. When not immersed in work, you can find Nadia balancing on a yoga mat, cooking spicy dishes, redecorating her Animal Crossing island, or spotting nudibranches underwater.
